Short-eared Owl
Description: A rare and declining breeder in Colorado, only found at a few sites on the eastern plains and in North Park and the San Luis Valley. Usually easiest to find in the winter (and not easy even then) on the northeastern plains. During years with high vole populations, this owl can become locally more common.
