Sage Sparrow

Description: A fairly common but local breeder in the western lowlands and in the San Luis Valley, mostly in areas of Big Sage with extensive bare ground underneath the plants. In the San Luis Valley, also occurs in areas of saltbush and rabbitbrush. Arrives very early on the breeding grounds, as early as mid-March, though many are still moving in early April; sings mostly in April and May, but may remain responsive to tapes well after that.
