Gunnison Sage-Grouse

Description: This long-overlooked species is nearly a Colorado endemic. It occurs in parts of eight Colorado counties in the southwest quadrant of the state; by far the largest population is in the Gunnison basin. The only lek open to the public is the Waunita Hot Springs lek near Doyleville. This is one of Colorado's most sensitive species, so please take special care not to disturb the birds.
