Ferruginous Hawk

Description: An uncommon breeder in prairies throughout the state, except rare in the west. Generally easier to find and more widespread in winter. Dark morph quite rare; usually most common in the southeast part of the state. Away from the Pawnee and Comanche National Grasslands, this is a hard breeding bird to pin down, and the following locations are only suggestions. Enough driving on the plains will usually produce one.
