Black Phoebe
Description: An uncommon summer resident, mostly in the western tier of counties from Grand Junction south, but rapidly expanding its range. Almost always found along good-sized rivers with suitable cliffside nesting sites. A rare and sporadic breeder in Fremont, Las Animas, and Pueblo counties, and possibly other counties in the area, also along large rivers with cliffs. Checking such rivers in southeast Colorado may produce new locations. This is one of the first migrants to return every spring, often arriving in March.
