American Dipper

Description: One of the most sought-after species for the first-time visitor to the state, this charismatic little bird is fairly common along good-sized streams and rivers in the foothills and mountains, especially those with lots of rocks. During the winter they move downslope, staying as high as the ice allows. Almost never found more than a few miles from the mountains.
